Foster providers are essential to FoSCA. Foster providers provide temporary care for homeless shelter pets in their own homes until the pets are ready for adoption. Often these pets are too young to be placed in the shelter or have special needs that require a safe and loving environment in an effort to find their forever homes. After foster care, these pets are healthier and happier which means they are prepared for adoption.
This could be kittens/cats and puppies/dogs or sick and senior cat and dogs who are not quite ready for adoption. As a foster provider, you may rehabilitate a dog with a broken leg that is healing, or provide a mother cat and her kittens a place to live until the kittens are returned to the shelter for adoption, or you might also foster animals that need socialization and are not thriving in the shelter environment. Kittens and cats must be kept indoors at all times.
To become a foster provider you must be at least 18 years of age and pass a standard criminal background check. The first step to becoming a foster volunteer is to fill out our online foster application. Once you have filled out the application and passed a background check, you will be scheduled for your Foster Care Orientation.
If you would like to volunteer your time here at FoSCA, please fill out the application below. The foster provider application is for volunteers who are only interested in fostering and do not plan to volunteer at the shelter. Your information will remain confidential and used only as part of the FoSCA Foster Program.
